一直从事微创手术的研究，研究方向为通过胸部微创手术的细节调整来减少围手术期并发症，强调为患者制订“个体化”治疗方案。对于绝大多数胸外科手术都可以用微创的方法完成，创伤小，恢复快，符合美容的要求，大大减轻了传统开胸手术给患者带来的痛苦。对于肺癌、食管癌、纵隔肿瘤、气胸、肺大泡等常见胸外科疾病的治疗有较为独立的见解，注重手术技巧。
